Problems With Photocopy Machines (Photocopiers)
There are many brands and manufacturers of photocopiers in use on the Berkeley Campus. A survey of web resources confirms that most photocopiers are Y2K compliant. Those few photocopiers which are not Y2K compliant generally can become so through installation of updated software or firmware available from the manufacturer. Most photocopier date/time problems are considered to be of minor consequence. Any photocopier which contains embedded controllers or software for the purpose of auditing or billing should be specifically verified with the original equipment manufacturer as to compliancy. Most major manufacturers have published Y2K compliance statements on their web pages along with simplified procedures to test date functions on the particular photocopier. A partial list of URLs is provided below for reference: If a photocopier contains a clock, it can be tested by manually changing the year to 2000 to check if the photocopier will handle the date correctly. This test may have to be performed by a technician. Here are specifics:
Note: photocopiers have EQ code H0822 in the BETS database. A department can use this code, with the on-line BET770 report, to get a list of all departmental photocopiers in the BETS database, where the unit cost was over $500. Return to Administrative Equipment
