Problems With Printers
There are over 175 brands of printers in use on the Berkeley Campus. A survey of web resources confirms that most printers are currently Y2K compliant. Those few printers which are not Y2K compliant generally can become so through installation of updated driver software available from the manufacturer. Most printers are driven by front end systems (computers) which, if not Y2K compliant, might cause problems when printing. The nature of the problem will probably be as minimal as an incorrect date on a printed header sheet. Any printer which contains embedded controllers or software for the purpose of auditing or billing should be specifically verified with the original equipment manufacturer as to compliancy. Note: printers have EQ codes H0842 or H0742 in the BETS database. These codes can be used, with the on-line BET770 report, to get a list of all departmental printers in the BETS database, where the unit cost was over $500. Return to Administrative Equipment
