There are a number of units on the UC Berkeley campus which provide
services on a recharge basis to help departments resolve problems found on
or after January 1, 2000.
Be aware that all these units have limited staff and can provide assistance
only after taking care of problems experienced by their regular customers.
In most cases, services will be provided on a first come, first serve
basis.

Departmental On-site Computing Support
(DOCS)
DOCS provides computing support to campus
departments for their PCs running Windows and Macintoshes
on an annual subscription.
Y2K fixes, as described on the
DOCS Web site
will be provided free for subscribed customers. Other
campus departments may pay for Y2K fixes on an hourly fee basis;
DOCS's hourly rate is $60.
For inquiries, contact:
docs@socrates.berkeley.edu
or (510) 643-3272. DOCS is a unit of Information Systems &
Technology, Workstation Support Services.

Departmental Technology Solutions
(DTS)
DTS has staff with the skills and experience to modify common data bases
and programming languages frequently used in campus departments for
custom desktop and distributed applications.
Typically, DTS has an initial meeting with a prospective client to
gather information about the Y2K project. This is done at no cost.
Then, DTS determines what assistance their staff can provide
and prepares a formal proposal to the department for doing
the Y2K work. The cost estimate for the project is based
on the approved recharge rate of $63/hour.
For inquiries, contact:
DTS Manager Kelly Haberer at
kellyh@uclink4.berkeley.edu or
(510) 642-7856.
DTS is a unit of Information Systems & Technology, Administrative Systems Department.

Central Computing Services
(CCS)
CCS provides support for departmental Unix and NT servers.
CCS will do Y2K fixes and
patch installations, primarily for Solaris and NT machines, but also for
other Unix flavors if there is need.
They expect a lot of calls in early January and will be fully staffed.
Their hourly rate is $68.

ACS Manager Sherry Rogers at
smrogers@socrates.berkeley.edu
or (510) 642-7157.
