Reaching vendor support staff on the weekend of January 1st and 2nd.


Where an application system has been provided by and is supported by a vendor, knowing how to reach vendor support staff on the weekend of January 1st and 2nd could be critical to having the application running on January 3rd - or as soon as possible thereafter.

Information systems (IS) staff who are expected by departmental managers to work, or to be available for work, on January 1st and 2nd, should obtain phone numbers and other information on how to contact vendors on that weekend. Such staff should also know the procedures for submitting problem reports to vendors, and how to download vendor fixes. If problem escalation may be necessary (and could make a difference), the IS staff should also know what University person(s) to call to help with this escalation.
