Campus Y2K events held to date
During the Fall 1999 semester, the following campus
Y2K-related events have so far been held:
- October 12, 1999
Y2K technical issues.
For Micronet members and other campus computing support
staff. (Third in a series of three Micronet meeting sessions
focusing on Y2K.)
- September 15, 1999
Finding a Personally Comfortable Balance
Between Under-reacting and Overreacting to the
"Year 2000 Computer Bug"
For campus staff, co-sponsored by CARE Services for Faculty
and Staff.
During the Spring 1999 semester, a series of seven Y2K
informational forums were conducted for faculty,
students and staff. Topics varied depending on the audience
of each forum, and
included computers, databases, off-the-shelf and customized
applications, research and research equipment, and building and safety
systems. Brief presentations by a panel of subject experts were
followed by a question and answer period. These forums included:
- June 17, 1999
Computers, customized applications, research equipment.
For research administrators.
- June 15, 1999
Research equipment.
For faculty, research associates/assistants, graduate
students, and staff. (A second, repeat session of
the April 28, 1999 forum on this topic, below.)
- May 13, 1999
All Y2K-related areas.
For Academic Business Officers Group, BAS Business
Officers Group, Undergraduate Affairs Business Officers Group.
- May 11, 1999
Y2K technical issues.
For Micronet members and other campus computing support
staff. (Second in a series of three Micronet meeting sessions
focusing on Y2K.)
- May 3, 1999
Computers, research equipment, building systems.
For Chief Administrative Officers
- April 28, 1999
Research equipment.
For faculty, research associates/assistants, graduate
students, and staff.
- March 31, 1999
Y2K Informational forum, covering all Y2K-related areas.
For campus staff and all other members of the campus
community.
